MSRC centre receives £10,500 for new therapy centre
Catalyst has made a grant of £10,500 to MSRC (Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre) for an RT 300, which is a powered exercise cycle that is used to electrically stimulate the nerves that activate major muscle groups in the legs, arms or body using a technology known as Functional Electrical Stimulation or FES.
This technology allows the person using the exercise cycle to regain some physical activity and the use of muscles that no longer work due to neurological damage as in MS.
This equipment will be available in the new building for use by MS sufferers and will be a valuable asset to the people of North east Essex and a flagship for the rest of the country.
This facility will be the first of its kind in our area and aims to provide neurology based physiotherapy to offer top level support to sufferers. It is also hoped that this building will be used to provide counselling.
